India's Mahesh Bhupathi and Max Mirnyi of Belarus cruised into the second round of the French Open men's doubles after a straight sets victory over Jurgen Melzer and Philipp Petzschner in Paris on Wednesday.

Fifth seeds Bhupathi-Mirnyi took 58 minutes to pack off the German-Austrian pair, winning 6-3, 6-2 at the Roland Garros.

The Indo-Belarus pair converted three of the five break-points that came their way, while their rivals drew a blank, wasting both the breakpoints they earned.

Bhupathi-Mirnyi had a higher winning percentage on their first serve but it was their second serve through which they scored the maximum points.

They next take on the Spanish duo of Marc Lopez and Pere Riba in the second round on Thursday.

Lopez-Riba beat the French pair of Jonathan Eysseric and Benoit Paire 6-2, 6-4 in another opening round match.
