Francesca Schiavone's French Open victory last weekend propelled the Italian to No 6 in the WTA rankings issued on Monday.
But the good times continue to roll for the 29-year-old French Open [ Images ] champion, who became the oldest woman to win her first Grand Slam title since Ann Jones won Wimbledon [ Images ] in 1969.
Schiavone's success at Roland Garros [ Images ] were appreciated, not just by the fans but also by the Italian government. And, on Tuesday, Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi [ Images ] met Schiavone at the Chigi palace in Rome, as a recognition and celebration of her achievement.
Here's hoping this honour inspires Schiavone to many more Grand Slam wins in the future!
