Bopanna-Vliegen advance to quarters in Atlanta

Rohan Bopanna and his partner Kristof Vliegen progressed to the doubles quarter-finals of the Atlanta Tennis Championships in USA with a straight set win over Sanchai and Sonchat Ratiwatana.

The Indo-Belgian pair recorded a 6-3, 6-4 win against the Thai combination in the opening round of the $531,000 hard court ATP event.

The winners set up a tough clash with British top seed pair of Colin Fleming and Ken Skupski.

Bopanna had reached the Wimbledon quarter-finals with Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi.

Mankad-Battsitone in Poland Challenger semis

Harsh Mankad and his American partner Brian Battistone extended their run at the Poznan ATP Challenger tournament after a hard earned win over Martin Alund and Diego Junqueira to enter the semis.

Mankad and Battistone overcame a second set lapse to beat the Argentinian pair 6-3, 5-7, 10-4 in the quarter-finals of the euro 85,000 clay court event.

They will next take on Daniel Munoz-De La Nava of Spain and Portugal's Rui Machado, who stunned second seeds Tomasz Bednarek and Frank Moser 6-2, 7-6 (5) in their quarterfinals.
