P T Usha elated on being named selection panel head

Former sprint queen P T Usha, who was named chairperson of the selection committee for this year's National sports Awards, on Thursday expressed happiness on being chosen to head the panel.

"I am really happy on being chosen as head of the panel. Earlier, I had functioned as a member of the committee on three or four occasions", Usha said.

Usha, who was practising with her wards from the P T Usha Athletic Academy, said the 17-member committee has representatives who had excelled in their respective fields.

"My ambition was that the deserving should get the awards", she said.

The 17-member selection panel headed by Usha will select winners for the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna [ Images ] Puraskar, Arjua Award and Gyan Chand award.
