Cash-strapped women hockey players will receive Rs 2.2 lakh each on Friday, the Sports Ministry said on Thursday in New Delhi.
A Ministry official informed that a Sports Director would reach Bhopal, venue of the national camp, and distribute the money on Friday.
"The Director has left for Bhopal and in the morning, she will distribute Rs 2.2 lakh each to 41 women players in the camp," the official said.
He said the money came from the Rs 1 crore donation made by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Chouhan and the Rs 10 lakh from ASSOCHAM.
The women players have been protesting in Bhopal, wearing black armband to protest against non-payment of their dues.
Even though Hockey India offered them an immediate amount of Rs 50,000 each, they rejected it and demanded treatment at par with their male counterparts.
