Lajong's poor run at the Cooperage ground continued as they suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of hosts Mumbai Football Club in the round 11 I-League match in Mumbai on Wednesday.
The hosts went ahead with the help of an own goal in the 22nd minute, before the visitors from Shillong restored parity through Niwan-O Gatphoh in the 50th minute.
However skipper Abhishek Yadav (74th) and Subhas Chakravarthy (85th) put the match beyond Lajong's control.
With this win, Mumbai FC have 17 points from 11 matches, and are joint-fifth in the points table along with Kolkata giants Mohun Bagan, who will face Mahindra United at the same venue on Thursday.
The young North Eastern side created numerous opportunities but failed to convert them, as the Mumbai club, unbeaten in their last nine I-League matches, registered their fourth victory in the tournament.
