Dempo beat a fighting Chirag United 3-1 to stay on top after their Round 21 I-League match at the Nehru stadium in Margao, Goa, on Friday.
The visitors surged ahead in the 17th minute through Josimar Da Silva Martins, but Dempo, who enjoyed territorial advantage in both the halves, equalised through Roberto Silva (42nd minute) and then scored two more goals in the second half through Ranty Martins (52nd) and Joaquim Abranches (84th).
With this win, Dempo, who head the table with 41 points from 21 matches, are now four points clear of second-placed Mahindra United. Chirag United have 31 points from 21 matches.
