Pune FC look for elusive win against Churchill

Last updated on: October 27, 2009 19:01 IST

With three draws and one loss against their name, Pune FC are looking for their first win and hoping to upstage defending champions Churchill Brothers in their round five match of the I-League in Margao on Wednesday.

Pune FC has played well as a team but some how not been able to notch up a win after three draw from four matches. But Coach Derrick Pereira is confident that the elusive win is just around the corner.

"The win will come for sure. We need to keep pressing for a result just the way we are right now. We need to keep the focus, and the result will surely go our way," said Pereira.

"The boys gave good account of themselves in all the three drawn matches, it is the lack of finishing that has let us down."

Edmar, who did not get much support upfront in the last match, will be looking for Jeje to support him who missed the last match.

Venkatesh, who returned after a long hiatus from a thigh injury, played an inspiring game against Mumbai FC and coach Perreira would be looking at him to steer the attack.

On the other hand, Churchill Brothers, with one win and three draws, haven't got off to the kind of start they were expecting.

Now, that they are in full strength, coach Carlos Pereira is hoping that his trump card striker Odafe Okolie fires with good support from Kalu Ogabama, Reisangmi Vashum, Dan Ito and Khan Thang Paite.

"Pune Football Club are playing well as a unit and we need to maintain our focus till the end especially in defence, as makes most of their chances will emerge winner," said Pereira.
