Churchill Brothers, Goa's top football team, that has had a dream start to the season, accept this gospel truth.
For they believe that it is the will of God that is behind their recent success.
"We have had a great start to the season. I want to thank God for that. Our minds are now set on defending our I-League title and winning the Fed Cup. We also want to go far and do well in the AFC Cup championships. We will give our best but it is all in the hands of God," said star striker and captain Odafe Okolie.
If victory in the Durand Cup and IFA Shield is anything to go by, then expect nothing less from Churchill Brothers, who commence their I-League title defence against Mahindra United at the Cooperage on Thursday.
Under new coach Carlos Pereira, the team is a rejuvenated and disciplined lot.
"Expectations are high after the two wins this season. There is pressure on me. But we have a good team and the confidence is high," said coach Carlos Pereira.
The Goan outfit has boosted its arsenal by roping in the services of Japanese Dan Ito, who should add more zing to the already strong mid-field.
With established names like Gourmangi Singh, Kalu Ogba and Nascimento Silveira, the team looks ready for battle.
However, Pereira is counting on a campaign-opening win to get into the groove.
"We need to start with a win. Winning our first match will make the path smoother for us in the tournament. For us, Dempo, Bagan and Mahindra are the teams to beat."
On the other hand, Mahindra United would like to erase memories of last season. With Englishman David Booth at the helm of affairs this season, Mumbai's local 'Red Devils' will have the extra edge in their game.
The arrival of Serbian midfielder Svetozar Mijin should add some power to the already-strong mid-field that is manned by Steven Dias, skipper K Ajayan and NP Pradeep.
With Churchill hoping to maintain their winning streak and Mahindra wanting to start on a positive note, a mouth-watering clash is on the cards.
