Prakash Amritraj stunned fifth seed and local favourite Kyu Tae IM to advance to the singles second round of the ATP Challenger event in Chuncheon, Korea but his campaign in the doubles was cut short in the opening round itself.
Unseeded in the singles, Prakash shocked his fifth seed opponent 7-6(2), 6-2 in the opening round of the $1,00,000 hard court event. He will next play Latvian Andis Juska, who sent packing Korean wild card Sang-Woo Noh 6-2, 6-3 in the first round.
However, a disappointing result was in store for Prakash in the doubles as he and his American partner Alex Kuznetosv suffered a 3-6, 4-6 defeat at the hands of second seeded South African-Dane pair of Rik de Voest and Frederik Nielsen in the first round.
Meanwhile, fourth seed Purav Raja and Sadik Kadir of Australia stormed into the doubles quarterfinals after scoring a convincing 6-2 6-1 win over Slovakian pair of Kamil Capkovic and Pavol Cervenak.
They will next take on Greg Jones of Australia and Pavel Snoel of Czch Republic.
