Boxing: Suranjoy bags lone gold

Suranjoy Singh clinched the lone gold as Indian boxers rounded off their campaign at the European Grand Prix [ Images ] event in Usti Nad Labem, Czech Republic with four medals.

Suranjoy bagged the flyweight gold after beating Armenia's H Danielyan 4-1 on Saturday night.

Earlier, Beijing [ Images ] Olympic Games [ Images ] bronze medallist Vijender Singh [ Images ] (75kg) had to be content with a bronze after losing in the semi-finals along with Manoj Kumar (64kg) and Jai Bhagwan (60kg).

The tournament was the first event in which Vijender competed since the Beijing triumph.

India [ Images ] had sent a six-member team for theBoxing: Suranjoy bags lone gold event, which is into its 40th edition this year.

P Narjeet Singh (54kg), Olympian A L Lakra (57kg) will return without medals after losing in the first round itself.
