The Delhi government on Monday showcased a complete city operation plan while other stakeholders made presentations on their efforts towards the successful hosting of the Commonwealth Games next year.
Chief Secretary Rakesh Mehta gave a comprehensive overview of the efforts being made by the Delhi government and its agencies to the top brass of Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF), including its chief Mike Fennel.
Mehta said around US $13.3 billion is being spent for the upgradation of facilities in Delhi and most of the amount would have been spent by the time the Games begin.
Other areas touched upon by him were communication, power, water supply, waste management and city beautification.
A presentation was also made on the medical arrangements being readied for the Games which will have three dedicated hospitals -- AIIMS, GB Pant and LNJP. The Games village will have a polyclinic and each stadium will have a medical facility for the athletes and spectators.
The Education Secretary gave a short presentation on how the Delhi government is involving the schools for the Games by putting up cultural programmes during the Games. An exhaustive traffic plan was also presented by the Principal advisor Ramesh Narayanaswamy which received appreciation from the CGF Coordination Committee.
This was followed by a presentation by DIAL on how the IGI airport is being upgraded for the Games with special emphasis on how the athletes and officials could be cleared and accredited in the least possible time.
On security, Delhi Police made a presentation how they are making foolproof security arrangements for the Games.
The Co-Com meeting will go on for the next two days before its executive committee meeting on Thursday.
