Brazil coach Dunga, enjoying the best spell of his three years in charge, has hit back at critics who said he was the wrong man for the job.
"When I started with Brazil, people said I'd last two months, and three years later here I am," Dunga, who had no senior coaching experience when he was appointed following the 2006 World Cup, told reporters on Sunday.
"I just worry about the job I'm doing and I think that some people have taken this the wrong way," he said.
"I was given the opportunity and I'm putting my ideas into practice. It's better to try and do something and make a mistake than to sit on the wall and try to please everyone. Nobody's going to please everyone.
"I have to give all my attention to the players, who are the ones I depend on. If, after that, I can be nice to other people, tell jokes and be pleasant, then I will.
"Sometimes, I say things that people don't want to hear.... but that's my personality."
Dunga, in danger of losing his job after Brazil failed to win the Olympic soccer tournament last August, has bounced back with an 11-match unbeaten run.
This included a stunning 4-0 away to Uruguay in a World Cup qualifier and victory over Paraguay which put Brazil top of the South American qualifying group.
His team open the defence of their Confederations Cup title on Monday against African champions Egypt in Bloemfontein.
