Paes-Black go down in final

Leander Paes's [ Images ] hopes of a second Grand Slam title of the year were dashed on Sunday, when he and Cara Black [ Images ] went down in the mixed doubles final at Wimbledon [ Images ].

The top seeded pair, who won the US Open [ Images ] last year, was beaten by ninth seeds Mark Knowles [ Images ] of the Bahamas and Ana Lena Groenefeld of Germany [ Images ] 7-5, 6-3 in the final.

Paes, who won the French Open [ Images ] men's doubles crown earlier this month was bidding for his tenth Grand Slam title and fourth at Wimbledon, having won  two mixed doubles titles -- with Lisa Raymond [ Images ] in 1999 and Martina Navratilova in 2003, and the men's doubles in 1999 with Bhupathi.
