Two headers by Marouane Chamakh led champions Girondins Bordeaux to a 3-2 win at Sochaux in Ligue 1 on Saturday.

The unsettled Morocco striker, who is being chased by several English Premier League sides, also netted in a 4-1 victory over Racing Lens last weekend.

Chamakh, 25, opened the scoring against Sochaux after 31 minutes before making it 3-1 with 10 minutes to go, each goal following a corner.

Both Sochaux strikes came from forward Charlie Davies, the second in added time.

"Technically we were not that good and both my goals came from set pieces but that's three points," Chamakh told reporters.

"We have a lot of things to work on," he added, hinting he may be ready to stay. "We still have weaknesses. We can become a lot stronger."

GENEROUS CHAMAKH

Coach Laurent Blanc paid tribute to Chamakh's team spirit.

"I never had any doubts about Marouane," said Blanc. "He's generous and he will stay that way all his life, even if he's not in the best condition at the moment."

Olympique Lyon, who had started the season with a 2-2 draw at Le Mans, bounced back with a 1-0 home win over Valenciennes thanks to a goal from new signing Bafetimbi Gomis.

Nancy went top of the table after a 4-0 thrashing of Monaco featuring two goals by Cameroon forward Paul Alo'o Efoulou.

"This is good for our confidence and better than what we had expected but we must not get carried away," said Nancy coach Pablo Correa.

Toulouse, who finished fourth last season, beat St Etienne 3-1 in the day's last match.

Bordeaux and Nancy are the only teams with maximum points from two games.

They could be joined on Sunday by Olympique Marseille, who host Lille at Montpellier because their Velodrome stadium is unavailable after a stage built for a Madonna concert collapsed last month.
