Pak missile attack kills two more soldiers

The situation on the Line of Control in Kashmir deteriorated further following a Pakistani missile attack in the Nowgam sector.

Two armymen were killed while two others suffered injuries.

A defence spokesman said the Pak missile had on Thursday hit a bunker in a forward post, demolishing it. The Indian troops retaliated, and the exchange of fire had continued the whole day.

In the Tangdar and Lipa sectors, intermittent small arms firing continued throughout Friday. There have been no casualties, however.

The Kargil sector, which had witnessed the death of four armymen and one civilian this week, was calm on Friday.

Meanwhile, army chief-designate Lieutenant General V P Malik visited the forward areas. He also met the state chief minister and governor to discuss the situation.

Five persons, including a Special Police Officer and two militants, have been killed in the valley in the past 24 hours.
