I am a banker as you know sound and healthy banking is backbone of every country so kindly strengthen it by taking some stringent measures against defaulters and make it simple and tension free banking. Our honourable Prime Minister Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee very often convey this message that stingent measures will be taken/have to be taken to make our country a developed nation, strong nation and respectable nation. Kindly take them. In today's scenario banking is passing through very bad shape. kindly don't target the banking itself rather attack the root cause of it. Take some measures to tackle NPA's. From employees side I would like to say that kindly don't tax them more and rather make them feel Happy.
Wish you good luck and all the best in doing your job in a perfect way.

2. Introduce minimum tax for all

Total income. With exceptions.
for senior citizens. Companies at 10% Gross total income.
3. For encouraging Software engineers
to stay with the companies and not migrate
allow tax emeptions on foreing income.
- education admissions priority on return in all schools as
all persons who return do not get admission for their children
easily.
4. Allow exemption for Children Education based Mutuals Funds upto
10,000 per child per year (max 2 children)so that parents can plan
for paying high cost of professional education
5. PSU Shares disinvestment
Please consider allowing 100 tax set off for investment in PSU shares
by individuals. This will increase the realisation of the share prices to
government and increase motivation to invest
in PSU shares. this Write off to be limited to
disinvestment by govt only subject to ceiling of
100/250 shares per person. This will ensure FII's cannot hammer shares
down before govt. disinvests.
Govt will gain anyway by way of capital gains when and if person sells
the PSU shares.
6. introduce amensty for gold deposit bonds. Thsi scheme is not taking off.
7. PSU disinvestment should be used to retire foriegn debt.
8. Increase wealth tax exemption limit to 30 lakhs
9. Introduce disincentive for more than 2 children per couple

This query is regarding the retired persons. There are a lot of people in this Great Country who have retired and are not entitled to pensions. These people simply put all their savings (PPF, Gratuity et all) in Monthly Income plans in Post Offices. Now if you reduce the interest rates on such deposits their absolute income gets reduced and on top of it the rate of inflation. I will request you address this issue.

Please reduce Income tax on salaried class !!
Wed Jan 24 19:59:05 2001
Name:surendra
Email:mehtasm@hotmail.com
Suggestions:1)Income tax search shold only be carried out on those who are not filing teturn of income. surveys can be carried out on all other person who are filing return of income.
2)A person should be asked to deposit the tax payable by him in the govt. treasury, which should be refundable after 10 years without interest. this will encourge people to pay/deposit more tax.
3)Standard deduction on salaried employees should be increased to Rs.50000/- without any other condition.
4)All Indian Corporates should be looked at with respect as they have contributed too much for the country's development, Employment etc. While Multinational companies only want to eat the fruits of tress put up by indian coprorate. Hence, Depriciation on capital expenditure to Indian Corporates should be increased by at least 50% from the present level.
5)People paying Income tax must be benifited with priorities in Ration, School/College Admission for children, Air/Rail Reservation. This will encourage non payers to comply.
6) Discretionary powers of the ITO, Jt. Commissioners and Commissioner of Income tax should be reduced. Instead Freindly Income tax atmoshphere for all tax Payers should be made.
7) Please conduct analysis as to how many searches so far has been made to tax payers vs. non tax payers. In fact Income tax department harasses only those who pay taxes.
8) Under all kinds of business, a formula of maximum tax should be worked out. For eg. maximum tax for all professional should be 10% of their gross receipts/sales. If an assessee pays that tax, he should not be questioned for any other reason.
thanking you

As the world is looking at India with great plans of huge investments and this is the first time and could be the last time if we don't respond properly.
Our budget must concentrate more on developing the infrastructure like developing good quality wide roads, kind of public transportation that any one can think of going anywhere at any time at least in Metros. Superior quality of communicatiion system dirt cheap net access to every one. Funds for a council that has the capibility to clean up corruption from India.
India has great potential, proper transportation, telephone services and good quality of net access can let India stand together with the Countries like America, Russia and Japan. We have lots of technological potential, all we require is support from govt. i.e funds and proper communication system.

The Industry should grow so that we can have good goverance and eliminate the bottlenecks of the Government departments, where delays is inordinate.

1) minimum amount from total income . This can be any amount decided by goverment, say 1 lakh
2)flat rate of tax over this minimum exempetd. This can be in slabs say next 1 lakh 10%, or flat tax
3)All allowances of any nature which is given monetarily to a person and perquistes also can be included in taxable income.
4) This simplification simillar to one introduced for house tax in one bihar muncipality, opposed by vested interests and supported by common man and supreme court can be adopted for Income tax
5) This will make lot of employees in Income tax department surplus and can be absorbed in other departments for some useful service to the public

Suggestions:Respected Mr. Sinha,
Simplify the calculation/procedure for service tax.
It may be linked as a percenage of the amount declared in the income tax returns.
Delink professionals from the service tax net, since professions and service are totally different & the professionals already pay professional tax -hence it is double taxation.
Looking forward to a progressive budget this year.

Have we, in 53 years of being an independent nation, bitten the bullet even once? If we had, as innumerable situations had demanded in our past, we would be in a much better situtation. It seems to me that procrastination and myopic prescriptions are the qualities that are quintessentially Indian. I strongly urge you to take whatever steps, however harsh it may be, that are necessary to realestically get down our fiscal deficit and boost the Industry. The people of India only need to be explained to clearly why certain steps are inevitable if we are to become a prosperous nation. Please trust the intelligence of our citizens. That is one thing the godforsaken Congress party never did in its once glorious and now infamous history.

Hence I request the Hon.Finance Minister to consciously consider this request and do something favourably to persons in the middle income range.Hoping for a good outcome in the budget.

Suggestions:Respected minister, I am vijay working in singapore but still an indian citizen. As here in signapore we have CPF scheme. Where employer has to put 20% of the net salary into CPF account of the employee and employee also has to put the same amount. He can only use the money for buying house or can withdraw it after retirement. This cpf money is distributed in 3 parts 1)ordinary account (75%) 2)special account(10%)3)Medisave account (15%). Only money in ordinary account is allowed to use for housing while special is for retirement and medisave is for your urgent medical needs. Where this kind of things are possible in our indian structure. We are benifiting from this very much and we want our indian citizen should also benifit from it. After retirement all the money in all three account will be handed over to the taxpayer. The most important is there is not tax on this 40% CPF and govt pays interest slightly lower than market rate. My request is please implement this kind of thing in your forthcoming or may be in your future budget which will make our taxpayer citizen's life more easy.

Suggestions:Dear Sir,
The rich is becoming richer and the poor, poorer. It is ALWAYS the middle class people who are the most affected. Kindly keep them also in mind while working out for 2001 Budget and particularly working women who are looking after the family.

Suggestions:Dear sir;
why don't you put some sort of tax on food grains output at the time of buying from big formers(by FCI or ELSE) with some barrier on lower side (so that
small formers can escape).Because the tax will be on output production who had huge land and producing tonns of grains can be brought in
to the tax net. That collection can be utilized for rural agriculture sector so that more small formers can benifit from it.I feel it is genuine because
those who are having huge lands and getting output are getting all the resources from (the rural irrigation and other)provided by govt at the service of nation .
Provided that it does not send wrong signals to the farm community
THINK ABOUT IT SIR!!!!!!!!!!

Suggestions:Better Tax Slab, Some genuine correction in the investment market. Better incentives for declaring more income,
If these things are achieved then only the country's deficiet could be lowered down and could achieve a still lower single digit inflation late as compared to the present one . Thanks Mr. Sinha. Regards Jerome Clive Cardoz. Mumbai.
