Major administrative overhaul in UP

The Uttar Pradesh government on Friday transferred 53 IAS and 58 IPS officers in a major overhaul of the state's administrative set-up.

Among those transferred are 24 district magistrates -- including those of Lucknow, Ghaziabad, Etawah and Kanpur -- and 27 district police chiefs -- including those of Agra, Ghaziabad, Gorakhpur and Etawah.

Various divisional commissioners and secretary-level officers have also been transferred, according to an official spokesman.
