Bangarappa launches CVPFormer Karnataka chief minister S Bangarappa today formally launched his Congress Vikas Party. He said the party was ready to have seat adjustments with like-minded parties for the coming election. Amidst loud cheers from his supporters, he was declared the party's founder president. Attacking Congress president Sitaram Kesri, Bangarappa said the former would be the "official liquidator" of the party. Bangarappa's son Kumar Bangarappa was the lone Congress MLA present on the occasion. In the last assembly election, his Karnataka Congress Party had won 10 seats. While five of the MLAs later quit to join the Janata Dal, the remaining MLAs merged with the Congress last December. UNI |
