Naxal killed in AP encounter

An extremist of the banned People's War Group was killed in an encounter with the police in Medhipally village in Karimnagar district of Andhra Pradesh on Friday.

Following a tip-off that the Naxalite, belonging to the Bakkanna Dalam, was staying in the village, a police party rushed there and asked him to surrender. But he opened fire. The police party returned the fire, killing him on the spot.

The police recovered four cartridges and five live grenades from the spot.
