Peeved at Pakistan's contention that the dossier on the Mumbai attacks was not evidence, India on Wednesday said it reflects Islamabad's continuing pattern of evasiveness and reinforces doubts about that country's willingness to cooperate in tackling terrorism.
"There is a continuing pattern of evasiveness and denial in Pakistan's response to the terrorist attack on Mumbai," External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee said while commenting on Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani's contention that the dossier provided by India is information and not evidence.
He said India has asked Pakistan to undertake investigations and share the results with New Delhi so as to bring the perpetrators to justice.
"We await a response from the government of Pakistan. Instead, we hear of statements by Pakistani leaders at high levels to the media. These reinforce the already strong doubts which exist on Pakistan's stance on terrorism (emanating) from Pakistan and on its capacity and willingness to cooperate with other countries against terrorism," Mukherjee said.
He said Pakistan must fully implement its international obligations under various legal instruments on terrorism.
Mukherjee's remarks reflected the disappointment in India over Gilani's comments which virtually amounted to rubbishing the material given by New Delhi on the terror attacks.
Emphasising that the material was adequate for Pakistan to take up probe, India wants FIRs to be filed against those named in the dossier and hunt launched for those who are not traceable.
