Riazuddin Nasir, the man arrested in Karnataka earlier this year is back in the limelight once again with the Gujarat police obtaining a body warrant against him in order to interrogate him.
According to the IB and investigating agencies, Nasir was a prize catch.
Not only did he give vital clues regarding the whereabouts of Safdar Nagori, the SIMI chief and nine other important associates, he also revealed during his interrogation as to how and when the bombs for the blasts in Jaipur, Bangalore, Ahmedabad and Delhi were made.
Nasir, in his confession, had said that following a meeting in Hubli some SIMI cadres had met up near the bus stand in Hubli and prepared the bombs. These bombs were then transported to various parts of the country.
Nasir also revealed that there were plans of transporting bombs into Goa and carrying out explosions over there.
The Gujarat police, which claims to have cracked the case following the arrest of Abu Bashir, is now looking for clues regarding the origin of the bombs. They hope to find the answers from Nasir, who is the only person so far in the SIMI network to have told the police about the entire operation.
The statements of Nasir before the Gujarat police will be vital to wind up the case. From Nasir, they will also be looking for information regarding the persons who had transported the bombs into Gujarat.
Nasir had told the Karnataka police that there were various persons from different states who were entrusted with the task of transporting the bombs into their respective states.
