Ten more persons were injured in police fire late on Monday afternoon in Srinagar and in north Kashmir's Baramulla town in continuing violence over the past four days, when fresh protests erupted on Friday.
The list of injured has spiralled to 50, of whom 15 have received bullet wounds.
Five persons were injured, when cops opened fire at protestors who indulged in stone-pelting at police and paramilitary forces in Baramulla late on Monday afternoon.
The protestors, shouting pro-freedom slogans, came out on the roads and engaged the police and paramilitary forces in clashes, prompting the police to open fire, resulting in injuries to five persons.
The injured were shifted to capital Srinagar for specialised treatment and the condition of two is stated to be serious.
Police also opened fire to quell violence in the Bagh-e-Mehtab locality of Srinagar on Monday afternoon injuring three persons who were hospitalised.
In the Nowhatta locality of Sringar, where a local driver died in police firing on Saturday, cops again resorted to firing at the protestors injuring two persons.
The injured were taken to SMHS hospital for treatment.
Monday's protests and the consequent police action have triggered fresh tension in Srinagar, where a complete shutdown was observed on Monday.
The state government shifted Kashmir Inspector General of Police S M Sahai in a major shake-up in the state police and replaced him by another senior police officer Dr B Srinivas.
