Communist party of India-Marxist patriarch and former West Bengal chief minister Jyoti Basu, who has been injured in his forehead after a fall in the toilet at his residence, was admitted to a hospital in Kolkata, on Sunday, for further treatment.
Asked whether Basu may undergo any surgery, sources at AMRI hospital, where he is admitted, a spokeperson said, "Let the doctors examine him first and decide the course of treatment." The former chief minister was brought to the hospital in an ambulance.
The 95-year-old Marxist leader, underwent a check-up on Saturday at a city nursing home near his residence at Salt Lake after he fell down on Friday.
Basu's personal assistant Joykrishna Ghosh said the Basu was stable and there was no cause for concern.
Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee visited Basu at his residence and enquired about his health on Saturday.
