The Mumbai police on Tuesday invoked the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act against twenty alleged Indian Mujahideen operatives who have been arrested.
All twenty were produced before a MCOCA court on Tuesday where they were remanded to police custody till October 21.
They were arrested from various locations across the country and many of them have allegedly been involved in carrying out blasts at various places in the country since 2005.
One of them, Mohammed Saddik Shaikh, is also alleged to be one of the founding members of the terror group.
Three of the arrested accused are alleged to be part of the 'media cell' of the terror outfit and were responsible for sending threatening emails to media houses around the time of serial blasts in Ahmedabad on July 26 and New Delhi on September 13.
