The media went to town on Monday alleging that the Mumbai Anti-Terrorist Squad had harassed Sadhvi Pragya Singh by showing her some obscene CDs while she was in prison.
However, the Sadhvi through her advocate clarified that the media reports were wrong and she was shown no such CD.
Ganesh Sovani, Sadhvi's advocate, told rediff.com that no such obscene material on video was shown to his client and the entire media had got the matter wrong.
He said that she was made to listen to some tapes which were offensive to his client.
Sovani, however, added that his client had not spelt out to him as yet what material the audio tapes contained and hence it would be wrong to comment on it.
He also added that his client is not the one to complain unnecessarily and said that she has concern for the police force too.
On the day of Diwali, Sadhvi Pragya was suffering from malaria but she preferred not to get herself admitted to hospital.
According to the Sadhvi if she was admitted to a hospital then women constables would have to accompany her and this would have meant that they could not have celebrated Diwali.
Hence she decided to spend her Diwali in judicial custody so that the woman constables could go home and spent Diwali, he said.
Sovani further said that while opposing the remand application of the Mumbai ATS seeking police custody before the Special Court (MCOCA), he opposed the same. In the application he made no mention about the CDs as was being stated by the media.
In the application opposing police custody the Sadhvi had stated that she feared that she may be subject to mental torture and harassment if she was handed over to the ATS.
On the application challenging the provisions of MCOCA slapped on his client, Sovani said that they would decide about the same in a day or two.
