Bharatiya Janata Party's Prime Ministerial candidate L K Advani on Monday said the country's internal security was at the stake and the economy was in the doldrums following the wrong policies being pursued by the UPA government.

"UPA government is soft on terrorism," he said.

He said it was disturbing that the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh along with the National Security Advisor had convened a meeting of the state police chiefs on Sunday and suggested them to get back with the blueprint to on a formula to tackle the menace of terrorism in 100 days.

"The meeting also recommended for the formation of the special force and was convened after the UPA government completed 1,600 days in the office," he said.

He said, "This clearly reveals that the government has woken up from its slumber to tackle the scourge of terrorism now and had not done precious little before."

Advani said that the UPA government not only lacks the will power to fight out terrorism but does have clear vision to deal with it.

Advocating for re-enactment of law like POTA to deal with terrorism, he said that now the people in government too have realised that the tough law was needed to firmly deal with the terrorists.

Taking strong objection to coin terrorist as Hindu terrorists after arrest of Pragya Singh Thakur- an accused in Malegaon blast, Advani said that Congress was playing the vote bank politics and it was misusing the Maharashtra ATS.

BJP senior leader said that the media reports were regularly pointing out at the job cuts and many industrial units have halved their production following economic distress.

"The situation has come to such a pass that TATA Motors had to shut down its plant in Jamshedpur for the second time for 5 days in a month," he said.

He said that people and the industrialists were in trouble with the economic scenario in the country but the Prime Minister and Finance Minister were saying "all is well".
