The teenaged daughter of Sarabjit Singh, who is in death row in Pakistan, on Tuesday made a fervent appeal to Islamabad for his release, saying her father is "innocent" and that his case was that of "mistaken identity".
In her plea to Pakistan's caretaker Human Rights Minister Ansar Burney, Swapandeep said, "I would like to appeal again to Burney that my father is innocent and that his case is that of mistaken identity."
She said, "It is someone else's case that has been imposed on him and we have proved this point. "Burney ought to help us... as he is not a criminal," Swapandeep told NDTV.
Swapandeep, who hoped she would get "help" from the Pakistani Minister, also said, "I hope that the Indian government and the Indian people will come to our support as they have previously done for us".
