Bharatiya Janata Party leader Sushma Swaraj claimed that there was a deep-rooted conspiracy between the bomb blasts that took place in Karnataka and Gujarat and the cash-for-vote scam.
Making this statement at a press conference in New Delhi on Monday, she said, "Why should the blasts take place in the BJP-ruled states of Karnataka and Gujarat four days after the cash-for-vote scam surfaced.
Swaraj said the investigating agencies must immediately arrest former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh Digvijay Singh, who alleged that the money offered to the three BJP MPs who figured in the much-talked about sting operation had with withdrawn from the Indore branch of a nationalised bank.
"Only two persons can know from where the money was withdrawn. One who actually withdrew it or the treasury where the money was kept safely. If what Digvijay says is true, then it is a serious matter. And if he is shooting his mouth off, even then he should be hauled for spreading half truths," she said.
NDA leaders, who met at the residence of L K Advani to chalk out their strategy, rejected Finance Minister P Chidambaram's suggestion that with the help of the BJP and other parties, the UPA should be able to pass some pending bills.
"This is a minority government. It is a government which is hanging on to power illegally. The NDA shall not support the present government to transact the business. Let there be fresh elections and the new government with full mandate from the people should carry out unfinished business. 15 leaders attended the meet," Sushma said.
Ruling out another no-confidence motion, she said that NDA constituents would oppose any move to curtail or defer the monsoon session of Parliament.
