The Centre has dispatched teams of the National Security Guards and bomb experts to Ahmedabad after a series of blasts hit the city and has also decided to convene a meeting of top officials of state governments to discuss the situation arising out of the recent explosions.
"One team of bomb experts has already left and another will leave tomorrow so that we can analyse what kind of explosion these were and who could be behind it," Union Home Secretary Madhukar Gupta said.
The Union Home Secretary said so far he has received reports of 13 to 14 blasts in Ahmedabad.
Gupta said the Union government has decided to convene a meeting of Home Commissioners and Director Generals of Police of all states in next two days.
"We will examine and discuss the whole issue in detail so that we can see what further measures need to be taken to prevent these kinds of incidents," he said.
Gupta said additional forces would be immediately provided once the state placed such a demand. "We are in touch with the Gujarat government officials".
The Home Secretary said the experts would try to ascertain the similarities between Friday's Bangalore blasts and today's series of explosions in Ahmedabad.
He said the Central government had not received any specific inputs in this regard.
"We have sent advisories to all states two-three days ago and after Friday's explosions in Bangalore," he said.
Meanwhile, Central Reserve Police Force sources said two companies of the Rapid Action Force have been deployed in Ahmedabad.
