Even one vote matters, and the UPA has reasons to cheer. The Delhi High Court has allowed RJD MP Pappu Yadav, who is lodged in Tihar jail, to participate in the trust vote on July 22.
Yadav has been convicted by the court on the charges of murdering CPI(M) MLA Ajit Sarkar on June 14, 1998.
Justice G S Gistani accepted Yadav's plea to allow him participate in the trust vote after his advocate contended that he had earlier been allowed by the court to cast his ballot in the Presidential and Vice-Presidential elections.
The Bench also directed the jail authorities to arrange proper security for the MP from Madhepura in Bihar.
Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav has been in Tihar jail since February 2005. He was sentenced to life imprisonment by
a trial court in Ajit Sarkar murder case on February 14, this year.
