Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader M Venkaiah Naidu on Monday alleged that the United Progressive Alliance government, in an effort to cover up its failure, was hurrying with the India-United States nuclear agreement that was 'against the interest of the nation'.
"Without a comprehensive deliberation on the issue and without taking the Left and Opposition BJP into confidence, the Congress-led UPA government is hurrying the deal to cover up its failures in all fronts," Naidu said.
"It shows the UPA government's immature way of handling situations like external affairs," the BJP leader charged.
Instead of dealing with the alarming situation of inflation, the government is only trying to push forward the Indo-US nuclear deal, he alleged.
Terming the deal as against the interest of the people, Naidu said, "Even the scientist community is divided on the issue. Let us not surrender our country's sovereignty for the deal."
