The Mumbai Police has denied reports that they have launched a search for two people who had attacked Amitabh Bachchan's home on Monday morning.
The denial came after television channels started claiming that two people on a motorcycle had attacked Bachchan's suburban Mumbai bungalow, Prateeksha.
"We have not launched any hunt because there was no attack in the first place," said Deepak Katkare, senior police inspector at Juhu Police station.
"I personally visited both homes -- Jalsa and Prateeksha and found out that there was no such incident as reported by media. I am surprised how wrong news leaked out," added Katkare.
Bachchan is not in Mumbai at present and is shooting in Shimla.
The news of attack came soon after Maharashtra-based political party Maharashtra Navnirman Sena criticised Amitabh Bachchan for starting a school in Uttar Pradesh named after his daughter-in-law Aishwarya.
Raj Thackeray, president of MNS on Friday said though Bachchan has become a superstar in Mumbai, his heart is more inclined towards Uttar Pradesh than Maharashtra.
"Though he has become a star in Mumbai, his interest is in Uttar Pradesh. That is why he was trying to be an ambassador of UP rather than Maharashtra," Thackeray said at a function.
Earlier, Raj received flak from political parties, for opposing 'Chhath Puja' and hurting the religious sentiments of people from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. He had recently objected to celebration of Uttar Bharatiya Diwas and Chhath Puja in Maharashtra.
In response to Raj Thackeray's criticism, Jaya Bachchan, wife of Amitabh Bachchan said, "I don't know who Raj Thackeray is..The only Thackeray I know is Balasaheb Thackeray, who is like a father to me and his son Uddhav Thackeray. I don't know any other Thackeray."
She further took a dig at Raj by stating, "I heard and read in the papers that Raj Thackeray owns huge property in Maharashtra and in Mumbai at Kohinoor Mills. If he is willing to donate land, we can start a school in the name of (my daughter-in-law) Aishwarya there."
