Former President Pervez Musharraf will be given security cover of a VVIP as he faces serious threat, a government spokesman said today.

He said Musharraf's name had not been included in the exit control list, a document maintained by the interior ministry to bar people from travelling abroad.
Musharraf spent his first day out of office in an army bungalow mulling his future amid reports that he would soon be travelling to Mecca to perform pilgrimage even as demands were made in the National Assembly that he should be put to trial.
After 44 years in service, Musharraf, who resigned as President in the face of imminent impeachment, has moved with his family to the garrison city of Rawalpindi where he is staying in the army chief's house.
His own farmhouse dwelling on the outskirts of Islamabad is not ready yet.
Quitting the office he had grabbed in a bloodless military coup almost nine years ago after deposing the then Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Musharraf said he wanted to spare the nation from a battle that would strain the relationship between Presidency and the government.
