Police harassed superstar Amitabh Bachchan and favoured people like Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray, Samajwadi Party leader Abu Asim Azmi alleged on Friday.
Azmi claimed Bachchan was forced to withdraw a case of attack on his bungalow in Mumbai during the anti-north Indian campaign led by the Raj's party.
Bachchan's security staff was harassed by police. They were called 20 times to the police station despite the fact that the incident of bottle-throwing at Bachchan's bungalow was captured by security cameras, he claimed.
In the same manner, SP leader Amar Singh was also asked to withdraw his complaint. Amar Singh had received a threatening call from an unknown person, Azmi claimed.
Police have no right to judge the case and force Amar Singh to withdraw his complaint. However, the same police department is "turning a blind eye" towards Raj and his party's "anti-social activities", he said.
Azmi also criticised Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh for "making statement against migrants".
