Former chief minister of Karnataka and Congress leader N Dharam Singh on Saturday ruled out any possibility of aligning with the Janata Dal-Secular to form the government.
Singh said that even if the JD(S)-Bharatiya Janata Party alliance cracks and the government cannot be formed, there is no question of them aligning with with either of the parties to form the government.
Singh said that it would be suicidal to align with the JD-S as they have had a bitter experience in the past.
The JD-S and the Congress had formed the government in the state, but mid-way the JD-S had withdrawn support.
Singh said they were watching the developments closlely and said even if Karnataka were to face elections the Congress is ready for it.
The statement by Singh puts to rest the speculation that the Congress and the JD-S may enter into a pact to form the government.
The Congress had few months back offered the JD-S support from outside to form the government, but the same had been turned down by JD-S supremo Deve Gowda.
