A senior Bangladeshi diplomat on Wednesday said Dhaka had no information about the reported arrest there of Mohammed Shariffuddin alias Mohammed Hamza, a key suspect in the recent Hyderabad blasts.
"We have no information about that," Muhammad Imran, Bangladesh Deputy High Commissioner, told reporters when asked about the reported arrest of Hamza.
He termed regrettable, India's linking Bangladeshis and outfits to the recent blasts in Hyderabad and also trying to portray his country as a hotbed of terrorism.
Quoting a Bangladesh foreign ministry statement issued in Dhaka, he said, "Bangladesh has not so far received any request for information in connection with the Hyderabad blasts and there has been no arrest in Bangladesh so far in this connection."
He also said, "Bangladesh is keen on tackling terrorism, but the goodwill that existed between the two countries is being sought to be destroyed by fundamentalist forces."
