A Pune court on Tuesday extended the police remand of the Bangalore-based software professional till Friday.
The accused Laxman Kailas allegedly posted an obscene profile of Maratha warrior king Shivaji on a social networking website.
On a plea by the Cyber Crime Detection cell of Pune police, First Class Judicial Magistrate S N Yadav extended the remand of Kailas up to September 7 to enable the police to carry out detailed investigations in Bangalore.
The 25-year-old was arrested by Pune police in the Karnataka capital on September 1 and remanded to police custody.
The action against the computer engineer, employed at an IT company, came after around ten-month-long investigation into the complaint filed by Bharatiya Yuva Janata Morcha, the youth wing of BJP, on November 17.
