Pakistan has said that the proposals on the Kashmir issue put forward by President Pervez Musharraf have brought a glimmer of hope for its settlement and have found resonance among Kashmiri leaders and other stakeholders.

Pakistan is committed to the composite dialogue process and that a durable settlement of the Kashmir issue is in the interest of all three parties -- the Kashmiris, Pakistan and India, Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz told Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front chief Yasin Malik, who called on him on Monday.

"It is encouraging that this new approach has found resonance among the Kashmiri leaders and has stimulated debate among all stakeholders as well as experts around the world," the official media quoted him as saying.

"Settlement of the Kashmir issue in line with the aspirations of the people of Kashmir will change the destiny of over a billion people of South Asia," he said, adding that everyone must demonstrate determination, commitment, courage, flexibility and magnanimity to solve the issue.

"Ideas put forth by Musharraf involve a multi-step approach that could form the basis of meaningful dialogue on Kashmir and have brought about a glimmer of hope," he said.
