Bangalore police have come to the rescue of the entity processing visas for the United Kingdom, which was housed in the building belonging to London terror plot key suspects Kafeel Ahmed and Dr Sabeel Ahmed.
Last week, the Visa Facilitation Service centre had issued legal notices to the Ahmeds, seeking to terminate the lease. However, the family members, who received the legal notice on behalf of the brothers, did not bother to respond.
The police have now stepped in and taken possession of the building. They say the building's possession will be handed over to the Ahmeds in presence of both the parties.
The police, apart from taking possession, also questioned the employees of the entity about the involvement of the brothers and the interaction they used to have with the tenants.
The police, however, say that although nothing much came out of the questioning, they will continue to keep a watch on this issue.
The VFS centre, which was housed on Richmond Road, had taken the building on lease three years ago. Apart from the UK's main visa processing centre on Cunningham Road, this is the only other entity to process visas for Britain in the city.
The entity sought to cancel the lease after the names of the brothers were shown as suspects in the London terror plot.
The entity had also informed the British high commission about their decision to move out of the building.
Sources said it would have been embarrassing for them to continue to operate in the building even after they found out whom it belonged to.
