As the race for President hots up, United Progressive Alliance, Left and Bahujan Samaj Party will be holding a meet at Ashok Hotel, Delhi, on Tuesday evening, while the National Democratic Alliance led by former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee will meet at Parliament annexe at 5 pm.
The meetings are being held to ensure votes from party members of Parliament and legislators.
Massive security arrangements have been thrown around the Ashok Hotel as many would be attending the dinner party thrown by the UPA president Sonia Gandhi. A waterproof shamiana has been installed at Vajpayee's place on 6 A Krishna Menon Marg.
Pratibha Patil, who is contesting for the President on behalf of UPA-Left and the Bahujan Samaj Party, will be the centre of attraction at the dinner party.
Pratibha would be accompanied by her husband Devisingh Shekhawat. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Prakash Karat, general secretary of the Communist Party of India-Marxist, A B Bardhan, general secretary CPI, and Mayawati, will also attend the dinner party.
"It is going to be Priyaranjan's (Dasmunsi) show," a senior Congressman told rediff.com.
Dasmunsi has been toiling hard to ensure a grand victory for Pratibha. The victory is also aimed to humilitate opposition parties and their candidate, who have been carrying out a slander campaign against their rival.
Vajpayee would be the centre of attraction for those attending the dinner party at his residence. It is not sure whether Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat will make an appearance.
Newsmen will watch if any of the Third Front MPs or MLAs make an appearance at either of the parties.
The media has been kept away from the events.
