Senior BJP leader L K Advani on Wednesday criticised Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for his remark that he could not sleep thinking about the families of UK terror suspects and said 'it was tantamount to appeasement of terrorism'.

"One has not heard of the prime minister having spent sleepless nights at the plight of vicitms of July 11 serial train blasts last year or any of the other terrorist attacks that has taken place in the past three years," Advani said during his visit to Mumbai.

"To say the least, Dr Singh's statement was unfortunate. It was tantamount to appeasement of terrorism", he said.

Criticising the government's 'muddled thinking' on the PM's statement, the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha
said, "The UPA government has chosen, as a principle of survival in office, to communalise India's internal security
policy."

The former union home minister, who met several victims of the July 11 train blasts during his visit, also promised
that he would write to the prime minister about their plight and he and his party would do everything in that capacity to
help them.
