Indian envoy Satyabrata Pal called on Pakistan opposition leader Fazlur Rehman in Islamabad on Monday to discuss issues pertaining to bilateral relations.
Pal has been meeting leaders of various Pakistan political parties to acquaint himself with them ever since he took over recently.
Talking to media persons after his meeting with Pal, Rehman, who is also the General Secretary of the Islamist alliance Muttahida Majlis Amal, said both India and Pakistan should continue talks to resolve all outstanding issues, especially Kashmir.
Kashmir is an important issue and focal point for improving relations between the two neighbours, he said, adding that 'the two countries should live as peaceful neighbours and the ongoing dialogue process should continue.'
He said opposition parties should respond positively if there was a progress for the resolution of the Kashmir issue.
"Both India and Pakistan have been claiming progress on Kashmir issue but there should be a concrete breakthrough for the satisfaction of Kashmiris," he said, adding: "The governments of both the countries would have to take their peoples, especially the Kashmiris, into confidence."
