The TADA court on Wednesday extended bail for actor Sanjay Dutt, convicted for illegally possessing arms in the 1993 bomb blasts case, till 1 pm, Thursday.

Dutt had appeared in the court after his previous extension was over.

Clad in a blue shirt and denim trousers, Dutt arrived at the Terrorist and Disruptive Activties (Prevention) Act Court in Mumbai on Wednesday afternoon. The court will hear arguments of the prosecution on Dutt's application seeking benefit under the Probation of Offenders Act.

The Bollywood star was found guilty of possessing a 9 mm pistol and an AK-56 rifle. Under the Arms Act, Dutt faces punishment ranging from five to ten years.

Dutt was acquitted of charges under anti-terror act TADA.

The actor's lawyer V R Manohar had argued on Tuesday that he had acquired the weapons for self protection and not with the intention of committing any crime.
