Early assembly elections in Karnataka is crucial for the BJP, as it would be able to garner sympathy votes as well as cash in on the success in Gujarat.
However, other political parties in the state will try to delay elections so that the BJP is not able to take advantage of these factors.
The Congress wants the elections to be held in April, as that would give the party enough time to resolve its leadership crisis and chalk out an election strategy.
However the BJP is adamant and feels that the elections should not be delayed beyond February.
Sadananda Gowda, however, said that the absence of a government in Karnataka for such a long period will only spell doom for the development of the state. Karnataka is under the President's rule at present.
The BJP is ready to face the elections and this time, it will follow the Gujarat model in developing Karnataka, said Gowda.
The Karnataka BJP plans to rope in Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Ministerial candidate L K Advani as star campaigners for the Karnataka poll. However, the party stressed that the election will be fought on issues of development and the campaigning will not be communally motivated
