"The curfew was lifted this morning after restoration of normalcy in Kanhaiya Nagar. We will be reviewing the situation in the evening again," Jalna District Superintendent of Police Chiranjeevi Prasad told PTI.
He said the police have arrested 25 persons -- one person in connection with the statue desecration, two for stone-pelting and 22 for rioting and arson.
At least 25 persons were injured, including three in police firing, in yesterday's protests in which many private and public properties were targeted by the arsonists.
The condition of the three persons who suffered bullet injuries was stable. While two of them were shifted to a hospital in Aurangabad, the third person was admitted to a local health facility, he said.
Terming the incident of the violent crowds chasing policemen as "unprecedented", Prasad said a senior police official was badly beaten up.
The condition of Sub-Divisional Police Officer D R Singh was serious and he was still in the intensive care unit of a local hospital, he stated.
