Mohammed Iqbal Mohammed Yusuf Shaikh and Nasim Barmare, close aides of main accused Tiger Memon, were convicted on Monday by the Terrorist and Disruptive (Activities) Act court for complicity in the 1993 bomb blasts case.
Designated judge P D Kode found Shaikh guilty of participating in conspiracy, obtaining weapons training at Borghat and Sandheri in Raigad district, attending conspiracy meetings at residences of co-accused and filling RDX in vehicles, which were planted at various places on the day of blasts.
He was found guilty under section 120-B of Indian Penal Code (conspiracy), Section 3 (3) of TADA (P) (aiding and abetting).
However, Shaikh was acquitted of the charge of hurling hand grenades at bay number 54 at Sahar airport as the court held that it was Barmare who threw the hand grenades.
Shaikh was also found guilty under IPC 307, 435, section 3, 4, 6 of Explsosive Substances Act.
Iqbal was also found to have parked an RDX-laden scooter at Naigaon in Dadar in front of a clinic, which however did not explode.
Barmare was found guilty under IPC 120-B, 3 (3) (aiding and abetting) for obtaining arms training in Pakistan, attending conspiracy meetings in houses of co-accused and filling RDX in vehicles, which were placed at various places on the day of the blasts.
He was also convicted under Section 3 (2) (i) of TADA for throwing hand grenades at Sahar airport, which did not explode as well as Section IPC 307 (attempt to murder) and Section 3 (3) of TADA (P) act (aiding and abetting).
