A person, identifying himself as 'Osama Sahab', in a letter to the designated court in Mumbai giving verdict in the 1993 bomb blasts case, has said Islamic Shariat (laws) was supreme and sought acquittal of the accused.
A postcard was received by the court some days ago and has been forwarded to Mumbai Police Commissioner A N Roy and other authorities for necessary action, sources told PTI.
The letter addressed to Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act Judge P D Kode said, "The naked truth is that Islamic Shariat is supreme. Allah bless you, acquit the accused and release them."
This is not the first time that the TADA judge has received such a letter. Earlier ones have even warned Judge Kode not to be strict with the accused and show mercy to them.
Following the threats, security of the judge has been increased to Z plus and he has been provided with a bullet-proof-car.
Meanwhile, security in and around TADA court has been tightened in the last few days with several policemen deployed in the vicinity.
Stringent security measures have been enforced at entry and exit points in the central prison where the court is housed.
The court has so far held 50 of the accused guilty besides acquitting 19 others.
A total of 123 accused, including actor Sanjay Dutt, were facing the trial.
