Pakistan on Thursday said the setting up of the joint anti-terror mechanism as the single biggest achievement of the Indo-Pak foreign secretary-level talks.

Islamabad said the two sides could pre-empt terror incidents through intelligence sharing.

The just-concluded talks were held in a positive atmosphere despite allegations of Pakistani involvement in the July Mumbai blasts, Pakistan Foreign Minister Khurshid M Kasuri said.

He maintained that the formation of the mechanism was no mean achievement.

He said the talks, which were resumed after remaining suspended in the wake of the blasts, covered a lot of areas and that they were held in a positive atmosphere is a step forward.

On his expectations from the joint mechanism, Kasuri said, "Let us not be propagandists. Let us be realists. Let us go on a case-by-case [basis]. Let us try and pre-empt incidents by intelligence sharing.

"Incidents take place not just in India... they also take place in Pakistan. Pakistan has as much interest as India has in making this mechanism succeed so it is not one-sided interest by India."
