Two persons sustained injuries when a low-intensity bomb exploded in a cinema theatre in the city late on Sunday night.
According to police, the blast occurred in the balcony enclosure of Odeon 35-mm theatre during interval for the second show. Cine-viewers witnessed a small spark and smoke followed by a low-intensity explosion near seat number 25 in 'L' series row. Explosives kept in a soft drink bottle exploded. The splinters fell near seat No. 11.
At the time of the incident, about 180 people were present though the 400-seat theatre. A Telugu film Lakshmi -- was being screened in the theatre located in the busy Chikkadpally area.
Two persons -- an18-year-old girl Radhika and a youth Ramesh -- sustained injuries on their legs and hands. Other people in the cinema hall ran out.
The cinema staff saw a person breaking the window panes, apprehended him and handed him over to the police. The two injured persons were shifted to Gandhi Hospital for treatment.
On information, bomb squad and detective teams rushed to the theatre and took up investigations.
However, the second show went on uninterrupted in the Odeon 70-mm theatre located in the same complex.
